My son wanted this for 15 years to replace the headset microphone on a stand, and my headphones PX100 Senheisser. He likes to play Modern Warfare 2 on the PC and was convinced that the turtle beach ear force x11 is improvement over the current regime. Read reviews and save money and buy ‘ear. Unfortunately, Turtle Beach headsets are terrible and he was very sorry. There is a constant hissing sound coming from headphones. I’m 49 and I hurt – my son is 15 years, with more sensitive Hearing is unbearable and can not be more than ten minutes. I tried to decrease the volume controller on the headphones small and increase the volume on your computer, making it a little “better, but still audible wheezing. My guess is the lack of head protection during a short-line and headphones, and this white noise is the result. I can not comment on whether the same thing happened on the Xbox, but we have tried on two PCs, and we had to whistle the same problem. The sound quality was very bad – it was hard, brittle and lacking bass. I think people who buy, do not want to musicality, but are more interested in hearing where the clips or the next steps, but the quality of sound uncomfortable to use them for any length of unpleasant experiences. My advice – do not buy it!

Great Headset Saved my Relationship

This headset saved my relationship, and kept me playing my xbox360 MW2. You see my girlfriend would get really upset at me for playing Modern Warfare 2 online. The gun shots and the harriers flying over would literately drive her crazy. So i finally sucked it up and bought this headset. She thinks it is the greatest thing i have purchased in a long time. 

Plus – the ear pieces are comfortable, they don’t squeeze even my huge head, the mic is firm and is easily movable, having a mute button, it connects right to my receiver (i just purchased a 1/4′ headphone jack that has a 1/8′ female connector into my receiver. I am getting (what sounds like) Dolby digital surround sound in my head phones (once again i am using a headset plug into my receiver not the red/white connectors), the audio changes from left to right and i can hear things i could never hear before. The ability to turn the chat volume up and down is also a plus. My voice sounds much better than it did with my old headsets, and i feel much more into the games. I have done much better in MW2 since getting the headset. 

Cons – Since im not using the red and white connectors and i am using a headset port on my receiver i can not say that all headsets have this problem but i do get some feed back that i can hear distinctly when there is no audio present. i have a feeling it is from the headset jack that i purchased and not the headset itself. Also there is feed back if you are charging your controller while you play (and the mic cable is plugged into your controller). 

If you are in my shoes and you are using the HDMI cable from your xbox to a receiver, and you purchased this headset check to see if your receiver has a HEADSET (most do)plug. If its like mine and has a 1/4′ plug then you can purchase a 1/4″Male to 1/8″ female at radio shack for 6 bucks. I would recommend the stereo one instead of the mono plug so you can get Dolby surround in your headphones (it will let you know where bullets are coming from, and you can hear people behind you as well). It will have you from purchasing the crappy Microsoft adapter cable, and will keep you from taking apart your AV cable that came with your box.

Turtle Beach X11

After going through maybe 5 Xbox wired headsets and 1 wireless headset, I decided to look for something that would last longer and work better. I was blown away by this mic, for only $15 more dollars than the wireless headset I previously owned, this was a huge step forward. The reviews that say that the hissing is annoying is true, there is hissing, but ince audio starts coming through the mic, you will not notice it. And for those who are turned off by the wired characteristic of it, it has like a 20 foot wire, which is pretty much wireless unless you like going for a mile jog around the park a block away while playing your game (sounds pretty intense to me…) I plugged it in, went to the best soundtrack game I could find and the Battlefield 1943 theme song came through with clarity I hadn’t ever heard out of my TV before. Explosions will scare the [...] out of you and gunshots will have the bass that you would expect from a real one. Overall, 5/5 from me, though these are my first turtle beaches, but I have used other friends’ X4’s and this compares if not competes with those. Big Fleck, out.

My Experience

First of all, I got this X11 headset to play better at Modern Warfare 2. I wanted something that would help me get an edge and help my KD. 
The headset is comfortable to wear and feels light on my head. The only issue I have with it is that sometimes when I play, there is an echo of whatever I say during the game. I’m not sure if anyone else has experienced that, but I have. 

I picked this headset because it got good reviews here on Amazon and it was relatively inexpensive for me being a college student. I Couldn’t afford the wireless RF ones, but I didn’t think spending $150 or whatever they cost on a gaming headset could be justified. Plus, you have to charge that whereas the X11 ones you do not. The cord that comes with it does not bother me as I play close to the tv anyway. 
Overall, I recommend these headphones. However, Turtle Beach may be getting a call from me soon about that echoing I hear.
